Dear Users,

We apologize for the site slowness and unavailability for around 30 minutes earlier today. An automated database cleanup routine - which runs all the time without a glitch - sent a message that it was busy and triggered a “failover” to our backup databases. Our replicated databases were kind of stuck in limbo while the various versions all got sync’ed up and back on the same page - and that took around 30 minutes. We’ll be thinking of how we can prevent this in the future.

We will also set up next week, and convey to you, our plan for how you can stay up to date, minute by minute, with what’s happening when there is a site issue - either via a status page or a link to our Twitter feed. We realize it is very unsettling to not know what is going on and how long to expect a problem for. We’ll be providing that “status tracking” info to you next week!
